August 2017 &#8211; Disappearing Elephant &amp; Smorgasburg<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jetlag sucks.<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Nach nur 2 Stunden Schlaf bin ich um zwei schon wieder wach. Ich w\u00e4lze mich noch so hin und her und dann suche ich erst mal im Dunkeln eine halbe Stunde meine Ibuprofen. Danach war ich erst recht wach. Da konnte ich Martin direkt ein Gespr\u00e4ch aufzwingen, der von meiner Sucherei auch aufgewacht ist. Zum Zeitvertreib schaue ich bei TripAdvisor nach anderen sch\u00f6nen Hotels in der Gegend. Dann habe ich beschlossen, meinen Reisebericht einfach jetzt schon zu schreiben und meine Bilder hochzuladen. Kurzum, das war&#8217;s mit schlafen. Konnte ich ja gleich auch noch mal ein Timelapse um 3:00 Uhr nachts aus dem Zimmerfenster starten.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 960px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-6109-1\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" loop autoplay preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/fotoloco.de\/newyorktravelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GOPR0103.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/fotoloco.de\/newyorktravelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GOPR0103.mp4\">https:\/\/fotoloco.de\/newyorktravelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/GOPR0103.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Zum Gl\u00fcck war ich nicht alleine, denn meine Facebook Freunde in Deutschland waren auch schon alle da, da hatte ich wenigstens Unterhaltung. Um sechs war dann auch Martin wach und wir machten uns fertig. Ich hatte mich so auf meinen Fr\u00fchst\u00fccksstand gefreut, aber am Wochenende sind die gar nicht da. In Fluffy&#8217;s Caf\u00e9 (ex-Europan) &#8211; da wollte ich eigentlich nie wieder hin &#8211; muss ich dann unser Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck holen. Auch wenn der Bagel gar nicht geschmeckt hat, ich habe ihn auf meine Freundin Nadine gegessen und dabei an sie gedacht!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;Denn in meiner Geburtstagskarte waren 3 Dollarscheine, um mir den ersten Bagel in NY zu kaufen und dabei an sie zu denken. So eine sch\u00f6ne Idee &#8211; danke!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Da Martin sich noch so lange mit unserer Bildersicherung besch\u00e4ftigt hat sind wir erst um 8:30 Uhr aus dem Haus gekommen.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Unser Ziel war der Union Square, wir wollten den disappearing \ud83d\udc18 sehen, eine Eisskulptur, die heute Morgen um 7:00 Uhr fertig geworden sein soll. Zum einen soll diese Skulptur, die im Laufe des Tages schmilzt, auf die bedrohte Rasse der Elefanten aufmerksam machen und zum anderen ist sie eine Werbeinstallation f\u00fcr Amarula. Zun\u00e4chst finden wir die Installation aber nicht, und egal wen wir fragen, keiner wei\u00df Bescheid. Deshalb musste ich noch mal kurz im Internet recherchieren. Wie schon im letzten Urlaub \u00e4rgert mich zu Beginn meine Technik. Mein neuer Gimbal f\u00fcr das iPhone und macht einfach \u00fcberhaupt nicht, was ich will, schon in der Schweiz \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udded hat mich das genervt ohne Ende. Wir haben uns dann zum Flatiron-Building gesetzt und es dort weiter versucht, aber nichts zu machen. Hunger, nicht ausgeschlafen, Technikversagen &#8230; Das macht die Katie nicht besonders gl\u00fccklich. Der Gedanke an Essen allerdings schon, daher gehen wir ins Eataly. Wir holen uns dort aber nichts, ich bin nur rein um dort auf Toilette zu gehen.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;Dann suchen wir noch einmal den Amarula Eiselefanten und werden endlich f\u00fcndig. Am n\u00f6rdlichen Ende des Union Squares&nbsp;steht er und schmilzt bei den Temperaturen vor sich hin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Danach fahren wir mit der Metro zum East River State Park. Williamsburg ist das krasse Kontrastprogramm zu Manhattan, was wir beide sehr gerne m\u00f6gen. Ist halt noch eine reine K\u00fcnstlergegend, aber total aufstrebend mit ultracoolen Caf\u00e9s. Daher gibt es bei Freezer einen aus nur den allerbesten Zutaten bestehenden Frozen Joghurt. Danach ging&#8217;s mir wieder besser. Und dann haben wir auch schon unser Ziel erreicht, Smorgasburg. Hier kann man die tollsten Sachen essen vor der Kulisse von Midtown Manhattan. Ich kannte schon fast alles von diversen Pinterest- und Instagramseiten. Braucht man sich nicht alles selber bestellen, man fotografiert einfach was die anderen essen. Martin hat sich allerdings Mozzarella Sticks geholt, ich habe probiert, die waren 1A. Noch nie so gute Mozzarellasticks gegessen. Ich h\u00e4tte an jedem Stand was essen k\u00f6nnen, habe mich aber echt gut zusammen gerissen und mir nur frisches Obst und eine Pink Lemonade gekauft. Es gab sogar an einem anderen Stand pinkfarbene Kaktuslimonade. Total abfahren. Insgesamt schlendern wir bestimmt gute 2 Stunden da rum und finden schlie\u00dflich irgendwo ein Pl\u00e4tzchen zum sitzen. Jetzt reicht es aber auch wirklich. Ich bin kaputt und habe dann mal so f\u00fcr eine winzig kleine Sekunde glaube ich die Augen zufallen lassen. Martin holt uns noch zwei Tacos, ich finde die allerdings geschmacklos. Ich glaube das war eine schlechte Wahl. Aber ausgesehen haben sie echt gut! Als wir den Foodmarket wieder verlassen holen wir uns ier &nbsp;n einem Caf\u00e9 gegen\u00fcber noch einen Coldbrew und fahren dann zur\u00fcck ins Hotel. In einer Metro war ein cooler Typ, der die ganze Zeit stumm mitgesungen hat. Das<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>war ja wieder was f\u00fcr mich. Hat bestimmt f\u00fcr seinem Nebenjob bei Ellen Stardust Diner trainiert.<\/p>\n<p>Zur\u00fcck im Hotel googele ich im Internet nach &#8222;beste Restaurants von Hells Kitchen&#8220;, und wir entscheiden uns f\u00fcr die Nummer zwei, dass K Rico, ein Steakhouse. Allerdings buchen wir noch weitere Dinnerdates, eins davon bleibt erst mal ein Geheimnis, das andere ist unser morgiges Abenddate, denn dann gehen wir zu Robert am Columbus Circle zum Essen. Dank Open table haben wir das gleich klargemacht.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Da es heute nicht so besonders warm ist nehme ich mal vorsichtshalber eine Jacke mit, Martin hat in der Zeit meinen Gimbal komplett mit neuer Software versehen und justiert, so dass ich jetzt den Gimbal mit der go pro mitnehmen und auf dem Weg in Hells Kitchen ein paar sch\u00f6ne Videos und Fotos machen kann.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Das K.Rico gef\u00e4llt uns sehr gut, die Speisenauswahl ist genau nach unserem Geschmack und wir bestellen beide ein Steak, ich ein New York Strip und Martin ein Ribeye. Dazu gibt&#8217;s f\u00fcr mich noch einen Chopped Salat und als Appetizer drei verschiedene Variationen von der Avocado. Danach war ich eigentlich schon satt, alles schmeckt sehr gut. Nur der Chardonnay schmeckt mir heute gar nicht, das ist der schlechteste den ich jemals getrunken habe. Aber nicht lang schnacken, Kopp in Nacken.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Unsere Steaks sind ganz hervorragend und ich frage den Kellner, woher das Fleisch kommt. Daraufhin kommt kurz drauf der K\u00fcchenchef und freut sich sichtlich \u00fcber unser Interesse und es entwickelt sich ein total nettes Gespr\u00e4ch, wir essen \u00fcbrigens texanisches Fleisch. So eine Qualit\u00e4t w\u00fcrde ich zu Hause bei Edeka auch gerne mal einkaufen :)<\/p>\n<p>Martin vergibt f\u00fcr unseren heutigen Besuch im Restaurant vier von f\u00fcnf Sternen, ich w\u00fcrde mich da anschlie\u00dfen. Allerdings m\u00f6chte ich nicht immer so teuer essen, denn auch heute haben wir unser Tagesbudget \u00fcberschritten, dabei haben wir ein gro\u00dfz\u00fcgiges Budget. Aber es hat geschmeckt, morgen haben wir aber noch einmal so einen teures Lokal ausgesucht, aber dann ist erst mal Schluss, dann haben wir andere Aktivit\u00e4ten geplant.<\/p>\n<p>Auf dem R\u00fcckweg ist der Himmel aufgerissen und trotz der Dunkelheit sehen wir dicke wei\u00dfe Wolken, das sieht so toll aus, und meine neue Kamera, die Fuji XT-2 macht einen tollen Job.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ich bin allerdings so m\u00fcde, dass ich nicht einmal mehr wei\u00df, wie ich mich noch ins Hotel schleppen soll.<\/p>\n<p>Nachdem ich mich f\u00fcr die Nacht zurecht gemacht habe lege ich mich aufs Bett und bin in der gleichen Sekunde weg &#8211; pl\u00f6tzlicher Sekundenschlaf.<span August 2017 &#8211; Disappearing Elephant &amp; Smorgasburg Jetlag sucks.&nbsp; Nach nur 2 Stunden Schlaf bin ich um zwei schon wieder wach. Ich w\u00e4lze mich noch so hin und her und dann suche ich erst mal im Dunkeln eine halbe Stunde meine Ibuprofen. Danach war ich erst recht wach. Da konnte ich Martin direkt ein Gespr\u00e4ch aufzwingen, der von meiner Sucherei auch aufgewacht ist. Zum Zeitvertreib schaue ich bei TripAdvisor nach anderen sch\u00f6nen Hotels in der Gegend. Dann habe ich beschlossen, meinen Reisebericht einfach jetzt schon zu schreiben und meine Bilder hochzuladen. Kurzum, das war&#8217;s mit schlafen. Konnte ich ja gleich auch noch mal ein Timelapse um 3:00 Uhr nachts aus dem Zimmerfenster starten. Zum Gl\u00fcck war ich nicht alleine, denn meine Facebook Freunde in Deutschland waren auch schon alle da, da hatte ich wenigstens Unterhaltung. Um sechs war dann auch Martin wach und wir machten uns fertig. Ich hatte mich so auf meinen Fr\u00fchst\u00fccksstand gefreut, aber am Wochenende sind die gar nicht da. In Fluffy&#8217;s Caf\u00e9 (ex-Europan) &#8211; da wollte ich eigentlich nie wieder hin &#8211; muss ich dann unser Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck holen. Auch wenn der Bagel gar nicht geschmeckt hat, ich habe ihn auf meine Freundin Nadine gegessen und dabei an sie gedacht!&nbsp;Denn in meiner Geburtstagskarte waren 3 Dollarscheine, um mir den ersten Bagel in NY zu kaufen und dabei an sie zu denken. So eine sch\u00f6ne Idee &#8211; danke! Da Martin sich noch so lange mit unserer Bildersicherung besch\u00e4ftigt hat sind wir erst um 8:30 Uhr aus dem Haus gekommen.&nbsp; Unser Ziel war der Union Square, wir wollten den disappearing \ud83d\udc18 sehen, eine Eisskulptur, die heute Morgen um 7:00 Uhr fertig geworden sein soll. Zum einen soll diese Skulptur, die im Laufe des Tages schmilzt, auf die bedrohte Rasse der Elefanten aufmerksam machen und zum anderen ist sie eine Werbeinstallation f\u00fcr Amarula. Zun\u00e4chst finden wir die Installation aber nicht, und egal wen wir fragen, keiner wei\u00df Bescheid. Deshalb musste ich noch mal kurz im Internet recherchieren. Wie schon im letzten Urlaub \u00e4rgert mich zu Beginn meine Technik. Mein neuer Gimbal f\u00fcr das iPhone und macht einfach \u00fcberhaupt nicht, was ich will, schon in der Schweiz \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udded hat mich das genervt ohne Ende. Wir haben uns dann zum Flatiron-Building gesetzt und es dort weiter versucht, aber nichts zu machen. Hunger, nicht ausgeschlafen, Technikversagen &#8230; Das macht die Katie nicht besonders gl\u00fccklich. Der Gedanke an Essen allerdings schon, daher gehen wir ins Eataly. Wir holen uns dort aber nichts, ich bin nur rein um dort auf Toilette zu gehen.&nbsp;Dann suchen wir noch einmal den Amarula Eiselefanten und werden endlich f\u00fcndig. Am n\u00f6rdlichen Ende des Union Squares&nbsp;steht er und schmilzt bei den Temperaturen vor sich hin. Danach fahren wir mit der Metro zum East River State Park. Williamsburg ist das krasse Kontrastprogramm zu Manhattan, was wir beide sehr gerne m\u00f6gen. Ist halt noch eine reine K\u00fcnstlergegend, aber total aufstrebend mit ultracoolen Caf\u00e9s. Daher gibt es bei Freezer einen aus nur den allerbesten Zutaten bestehenden Frozen Joghurt. Danach ging&#8217;s mir wieder besser. Und dann haben wir auch schon unser Ziel erreicht, Smorgasburg. Hier kann man die tollsten Sachen essen vor der Kulisse von Midtown Manhattan. Ich kannte schon fast alles von diversen Pinterest- und Instagramseiten. Braucht man sich nicht alles selber bestellen, man fotografiert einfach was die anderen essen. Martin hat sich allerdings Mozzarella Sticks geholt, ich habe probiert, die waren 1A. Noch nie so gute Mozzarellasticks gegessen. Ich h\u00e4tte an jedem Stand was essen k\u00f6nnen, habe mich aber echt gut zusammen gerissen und mir nur frisches Obst und eine Pink Lemonade gekauft. Es gab sogar an einem anderen Stand pinkfarbene Kaktuslimonade. Total abfahren. Insgesamt schlendern wir bestimmt gute 2 Stunden da rum und finden schlie\u00dflich irgendwo ein Pl\u00e4tzchen zum sitzen. Jetzt reicht es aber auch wirklich. Ich bin kaputt und habe dann mal so f\u00fcr eine winzig kleine Sekunde glaube ich die Augen zufallen lassen. Martin holt uns noch zwei Tacos, ich finde die allerdings geschmacklos. Ich glaube das war eine schlechte Wahl. Aber ausgesehen haben sie echt gut! Als wir den Foodmarket wieder verlassen holen wir uns ier &nbsp;n einem Caf\u00e9 gegen\u00fcber noch einen Coldbrew und fahren dann zur\u00fcck ins Hotel. In einer Metro war ein cooler Typ, der die ganze Zeit stumm mitgesungen hat. Das&nbsp; war ja wieder was f\u00fcr mich. Hat bestimmt f\u00fcr seinem Nebenjob bei Ellen Stardust Diner trainiert. Zur\u00fcck im Hotel googele ich im Internet nach &#8222;beste Restaurants von Hells Kitchen&#8220;, und wir entscheiden uns f\u00fcr die Nummer zwei, dass K Rico, ein Steakhouse. Allerdings buchen wir noch weitere Dinnerdates, eins davon bleibt erst mal ein Geheimnis, das andere ist unser morgiges Abenddate, denn dann gehen wir zu Robert am Columbus Circle zum Essen. Dank Open table haben wir das gleich klargemacht.&nbsp; Da es heute nicht so besonders warm ist nehme ich mal vorsichtshalber eine Jacke mit, Martin hat in der Zeit meinen Gimbal komplett mit neuer Software versehen und justiert, so dass ich jetzt den Gimbal mit der go pro mitnehmen und auf dem Weg in Hells Kitchen ein paar sch\u00f6ne Videos und Fotos machen kann.&nbsp; Das K.Rico gef\u00e4llt uns sehr gut, die Speisenauswahl ist genau nach unserem Geschmack und wir bestellen beide ein Steak, ich ein New York Strip und Martin ein Ribeye. Dazu gibt&#8217;s f\u00fcr mich noch einen Chopped Salat und als Appetizer drei verschiedene Variationen von der Avocado. Danach war ich eigentlich schon satt, alles schmeckt sehr gut. Nur der Chardonnay schmeckt mir heute gar nicht, das ist der schlechteste den ich jemals getrunken habe. Aber nicht lang schnacken, Kopp in Nacken.&nbsp; Unsere Steaks sind ganz hervorragend und ich frage den Kellner, woher das Fleisch kommt. Daraufhin kommt kurz drauf der K\u00fcchenchef und freut sich sichtlich \u00fcber unser Interesse und es entwickelt sich ein total nettes Gespr\u00e4ch, wir essen \u00fcbrigens texanisches Fleisch. So eine Qualit\u00e4t w\u00fcrde ich zu Hause bei Edeka auch gerne mal einkaufen :) Martin vergibt f\u00fcr unseren heutigen Besuch im Restaurant vier von f\u00fcnf Sternen, ich w\u00fcrde mich da anschlie\u00dfen. Allerdings m\u00f6chte ich nicht immer so teuer essen, denn auch heute haben wir unser Tagesbudget \u00fcberschritten, dabei haben wir ein gro\u00dfz\u00fcgiges Budget. Aber es hat geschmeckt, morgen haben wir aber noch einmal so einen teures Lokal ausgesucht, aber dann ist erst mal Schluss, dann haben wir andere Aktivit\u00e4ten geplant. Auf dem R\u00fcckweg ist der Himmel aufgerissen und trotz der Dunkelheit sehen wir dicke wei\u00dfe Wolken, das sieht so toll aus, und meine neue Kamera, die Fuji XT-2 macht einen tollen Job.&nbsp; Ich bin allerdings so m\u00fcde, dass ich nicht einmal mehr wei\u00df, wie ich mich noch ins Hotel schleppen soll. Nachdem ich mich f\u00fcr die Nacht zurecht gemacht habe lege ich mich aufs Bett und bin in der gleichen Sekunde weg &#8211; pl\u00f6tzlicher Sekundenschlaf.&nbsp; Gute Nacht New York!
