F\u00fcr New York wird eine riesige Hitzewelle vorhergesagt, gut dass wir nun ans Meer fahren. Wir stehen fr\u00fch auf denn wir wollen zur \u00d6ffnung von Hertz&nbsp; p\u00fcnktlich um 7 Uhr in der 18 Morton Street Manhattan, NY 10014 sein.&nbsp;Ein letztes Mal Bilder machen, ein letztes Mal mit diesem Ausblick duschen. Wir freuen uns aber jetzt auf unseren Roadtrip. Nicht nur dass der Fahrer den Weg nicht kennt, er kennt auch nicht die Verkehrsregeln. Und so biegen wir verkehrswidrig in eine Einbahnstra\u00dfe ein. Dauert ein bisschen, bis der Fahrer schnallt, was Martin ihm sagt. Und genau jetzt, wo wir weder Zeit haben noch ich irgendwo halten kann sehe ich Dreharbeiten, wo richtig was abgeht. Die TV-Serie New Amsterdam mit Ryan Eggold wird hier gerade produziert. Eine amerikanische Krankenhausserie. Das w\u00e4re genau was f\u00fcr mich gewesen.&nbsp;<br \/>Durch den Queens Midtown Tunnel verlassen wir Manhattan Richtung Long Island. Getankt wird in Queens, und geshoppt auch gleich. Am Babylon Overlook Beach halten wir an und gehen zum Strand, machen ein paar Bilder und Filmchen und fahren weiter. Wir kommen zum&nbsp; Robert Moses State Park und befahren den Kreisverkehr des <em>Robert Moses Causeway <\/em>mit seinem gro\u00dfen Wasserturm. Im Hintergrund der Atlantik. Der Park&nbsp; erstreckt sich am westlichen Ende von <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fire_Island\">Fire Island<\/a>, einer Insel vor der S\u00fcdk\u00fcste von <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Long_Island\">Long Island<\/a>. Der Park ist ber\u00fchmt f\u00fcr sein 5 mi (7,5 km) langes St\u00fcck Strand am <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Atlantischer_Ozean\">Atlantik<\/a>. Hier wollte ich eigentlich immer mal von New York aus hin, habe seit Jahren die Fire Island App auf meinem Handy.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"jig4\" class=\"justified-image-grid Viele Villen sehen wir auf unserer Fahrt leider nicht, entlang der I495 gibt es nicht viel zu sehen. Daf\u00fcr finden wir dort noch das Welcome to New York Sign, das ich in New York bei der Ausfahrt aus dem Holland Tunnel nicht geschafft hatte zu fotografieren. Wir wollen in unser H\u00e4uschen! Gew\u00fcnscht h\u00e4tte ich mir ja die Ocean View King Suite, die war aber nicht mehr zu haben bei der Buchung. In Harwich finden wir einen Stop &amp; Shop, hier kaufen wir f\u00fcr\u2019s Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck und dar\u00fcber hinaus auch f\u00fcr ein paar schnelle Snacks in unserer K\u00fcche ein. Besonders mag ich die gro\u00dfen Flaschen, wir kaufen eine 1,5 l Flasche Starbucks Cold Brew, die hat einen solchen Umfang, der zu Hause niemals in den K\u00fchlschrank passen w\u00fcrde. In die hiesigen passen aber wohl 2 hintereinander \ud83c\udf49\ud83e\udd51. Wir freuen uns aber jetzt auf unseren Roadtrip. In der Lobby machen wir noch die letzten Bilder. Die Taxifahrt \ud83d\ude96 ist abenteuerlich. Nicht nur dass der Fahrer den Weg nicht kennt, er kennt auch nicht die Verkehrsregeln. Und so biegen wir verkehrswidrig in eine Einbahnstra\u00dfe ein. Und genau jetzt, wo wir weder Zeit haben noch ich irgendwo halten kann sehe ich Dreharbeiten, wo richtig was abgeht. Die TV-Serie New Amsterdam mit Ryan Eggold wird hier gerade produziert. Eine amerikanische Krankenhausserie. Das w\u00e4re genau was f\u00fcr mich gewesen.&nbsp;Durch den Queens Midtown Tunnel verlassen wir Manhattan Richtung Long Island. Getankt wird in Queens, und geshoppt auch gleich. Wassermelone, Getr\u00e4nke und Rod\u2019s Pretzels &#8211; die werden uns die n\u00e4chsten 3 Wochen im Auto begleiten, yummy. Wir befahren den Ocean Parkway, auf einer Inselkette vor Long Island gelegen. Am Babylon Overlook Beach halten wir an und gehen zum Strand, machen ein paar Bilder und Filmchen und fahren weiter. Wir kommen zum&nbsp; Robert Moses State Park und befahren den Kreisverkehr des Robert Moses Causeway mit seinem gro\u00dfen Wasserturm. Im Hintergrund der Atlantik. Der Park&nbsp; erstreckt sich am westlichen Ende von Fire Island, einer Insel vor der S\u00fcdk\u00fcste von Long Island. Der Park ist ber\u00fchmt f\u00fcr sein 5 mi (7,5 km) langes St\u00fcck Strand am Atlantik. Hier wollte ich eigentlich immer mal von New York aus hin, habe seit Jahren die Fire Island App auf meinem Handy. F\u00fcr uns gehts zur\u00fcck, durch die Hamptons Richtung Orient Point. Viele Villen sehen wir auf unserer Fahrt leider nicht, entlang der I495 gibt es nicht viel zu sehen. So ist unser n\u00e4chster Stopp der&nbsp;Bayview&nbsp;Farmers Market mit einer gigantischen Auswahl an Obst und Gem\u00fcse. Ich frage mich wer das alles kaufen soll\u2026 bei den Temperaturen wird das doch alles total schnell schlecht. Ich kaufe eine riesige Portion Wassermelone, die wir im Garten des Farmers Markets verzehren. Wenn man isst, was man ist, bin ich wohl eine Wassermelone \ud83c\udf49 Unser letztes Ziel auf den Hamptons ist Orient Point, dort f\u00e4hrt die F\u00e4hre nach New London. Wir versuchen noch die fr\u00fchere F\u00e4hre zu ergattern, sind aber zu sp\u00e4t. Daf\u00fcr finden wir dort noch das Welcome to New York Sign, das ich in New York bei der Ausfahrt aus dem Holland Tunnel nicht geschafft hatte zu fotografieren. Die Stunde bis zur n\u00e4chsten F\u00e4hre verbringen wir noch in einem Restaurant im Orient Beach State Park, dem Orient by the Sea. Dort gibt es f\u00fcr mich Fischfilet, f\u00fcr Martin Chicken Salad und meine Chillybottle wird auch noch aufgef\u00fcllt. Und schon stehen wir wieder an der F\u00e4hre, erhalten ein VIP Schild f\u00fcrs Auto auf der F\u00e4hre und finden uns in der Poleposition ganz vorne auf der F\u00e4hre wieder. Big Shot sieht gut aus.&nbsp;Die ca. 1,5h Fahrt geht vorbei an der ber\u00fcchtigten Insel Plum Island, Standort eines Hochsicherheitsforschungszentrums f\u00fcr Tierseuchen und -krankheiten. Im Film Das Schweigen der L\u00e4mmer wird Plum Island als m\u00f6glicher, weil \u00fcberwachter Urlaubsort f\u00fcr Hannibal Lecter vorgeschlagen, als Gegenleistung f\u00fcr seine Unterst\u00fctzung bei der Suche nach einem Serienm\u00f6rder.
